ALL THE PRESIDENT’S MEN POSTER
The purpose of this assignment was to redesign a movie poster, and further expand the theme to other media. The chosen film was the political thriller All the President’s Men. The movie, directed by Alan J. Pakula, chronicles the Watergate scandal that led to the resignation of President Richard Nixon. The story is seen through the eyes of Washington Post reporters Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward, played by Dustin Hoffman and Robert Redford, respectively.
Playing off the theme of The Post, the posters were designed to recreate the front page of a newspaper through paper texture and typeface choices. The dark and ominous composite images, an allusion to The Post’s tagline “democracy dies in darkness”, were created using Adobe Photoshop. The webpage continues the newspaper theme, but in this instance, highlights the two reporters. The mobile site uses a modified version of the three movie posters.
