ABOUT PROJECT CP1919

PROJECT CP1919 is the name of the graphic design office of Walter Yang. The impetus for the name comes from the cover of the album Unknown Pleasures by post-punk band Joy Division. The iconic image of successive radio transmissions from pulsar CP1919 was designed by Peter Saville and the band. To many, it embodies the power of a visual to capture the essence of a specific medium — in this case, the group and its music. Indeed, the objective of the studio is to capture the spirit of a subject via thoughtfully designed imagery and typography.

In turn, the purpose of this site is to display the graphic design work of the office. Many of the projects here are the result of obtaining a Professional Certificate in Graphic Design from the University of California, Berkeley Extension. This site is set in Corporate S (San Serif) and Corporate A (Antiqua). The Corporate typeface trilogy, which also includes Corporate E (Egyptian), was designed by Kurt Weidemann for Daimler-Benz.
